M/Tr. «NOORDVAERDER»
– twinrigger from Holland to Flekkefjord
Denne artikkelen er tre år eller eldre.
The twin-rig stern trawler "Noordvaerder” was delivered to Flekkefjord Fiskeriselskap from the Dutch yard Maaskant Shipyards at Stellendam in September, as yard number 563. The vessel has a mixed Dutch/Norwegian crew and a Norwegian skipper. The registration number of the new fishing vessel is VA-22-F.
The Norwegian shipping company Flekkefjord Fiskeriselskap has expanded its fleet with a no nonsense fishing vessel, in which the most functional qualities in relation to the applied twinrig fishing technologies and hygiene are optimal combined. The vessel is designed by Scheepsbouwkundigbureau Herman Jansen.

Deck
Three net drums are placed on the aft deck. Two small flanges in the middle divide the two outer net drums. Each side of the drum is separately driven by a hydro motor, so that the left fore lead independent of the right fore lead can be controlled.
To hoist both net bags there are two auxiliary winches situated at the middle traverse of the aftmast. Therefore two line blocks are hinged in the upper traverse of this mast.
To fasten up the hauling procedure, the bags are directly boxed underneath the netdrums. The catch falls down into catch-bins from where it is transported by an elevator to an isolated storage compartment, so that the catch is not laying in the sun and can be kept wet with washing water.
From the storage compartment the fish is transported through a bin to the sorting conveyor-belt, from where it is collected in sorting compartments. Furthermore the fish is transported through a washer along a chute into the hopper in the fish-hold. Waste from the fish handling process is transported straight from the conveyor-belt to an offal pipe and back to the sea.
A well bin has been placed in the processing room to process lobsters. Wash water, which is used during the fish handling process, will be pumped overboard by two bilge water pumps. Both pumps can pump solids up to 100mm.
For optimal fish quality a seawater flake icemaker is placed in the fishhold. At the ceiling of the fish-hold spiral evaporators are mounted. They are connected with stainless steel pipes to the cooling plant.
With respect of hygiene a smooth and seamless coating covers walls and ceilings in the processing room and fishhold. The floors in these rooms are covered with a seamless rubber covering.
To unload fish boxes from the fishhold to the shore (max. 2x8 boxes) an Effer/Promac deck crane has been installed. This deck crane is remotely controlled for optimal safety of the operator.
In front of the deckhouse, under the wheelhouse, three trawl winches are placed for the trawl doors and the clump. The required trawl blocks are placed or hinged into their places. All winches can be controlled from the aft console in the wheelhouse. They can also be controlled with two radio controlled portable remote control units.
To drive the hydraulic main system three twin-pumps are mounted to three PTO switchable shafts (3x ca. 200kW) at the gearbox. For the auxiliary system two electric-hydraulic pump aggregates each 18,5 kW are installed. The auxiliary system can be used for paying out or heaving in the trawl wire during fishing. In case of emergency the auxiliary system can be used for hauling the complete fishing gear. Two pilot-pumps take care of the constant steering pressure. In case of black out an accumulator maintains the brake pressure.
Machinery
The main engine is a Caterpillar 3508 of 1200 kW at 1600 rpm, supplied by Geveke Motoren. The engine is connected to a Scana Volda propeller plant with a controllable pitch propeller, via a Scana Volda gearbox type ACG 62/480 with reduction 9,4:1. The diameter of the propeller shaft is 240mm.
The steering engine is from Promac. For improved manoeuvrability a Jastram bowthruster type BU-20-F of 88 kW at 1500 rpm is installed.
Auxiliary power is provided by a Caterpillar 3306 generator set from Geveke Motoren, of 172 kW at 1500 rpm.
Electronics
The following equipment is placed in the wheelhouse: Two radars, one with repeater monitor aft, one transmitter with battery set, two VHFs, one with DSC control, two DGPS navigators, one scanner, one world receiver, one watch keeping alarm, one navtex, two handheld VHFs, three line counters, one magnetic compass and one gyro compass, one automatic pilot with remote control plus two rudder indicators, two 3-D computer navigation systems, one with repeater monitor aft, one Scanmar computer with hydrophones at the trawl doors, upper line, and clump, with monitors fore and aft, one echo sounder, one sonar, both with monitors fore and aft, one Satcom-C, one mobile- and one iridium telephone, one radar transponder and for each craddle a radio beacon (EPIRP), searchlight with joystick control at fore position, and finally monitor to display three camera positions.
All nautical equipment is provided by Datema.
